Most individuals have a difficult time believing the subject of Infant Mental Health.  How can infants have issues with their mental health?  This intervention targets infants and children from ages 0-5.  The concept of Infant Mental Health is on the rise once experts have understood that mental health occurs throughout the lifespan.  In infancy, mental health issues can arise when there is poor attachment to parent, poor self-regulation, excessive tantrums, developmental concerns and even trauma.

Infant Mental health is important to an infant/child as they learn about social emotional intelligence (identifying their feelings in an effective manner), self-regulation (calming themselves down), appropriate peer interactions and successful attachment relationships to the individuals in their lives.
